Lynne Rosenberg

Lynne RosenbergLynne Rosenberg has a long and very special relationship with Chadwick School. She is a graduate of the class of 1981; the parent of two alumni, a trustee of the Roessler-Chadwick Foundation, and the daughter of a former Chadwick trustee. In fact, Lynne's connection to Chadwick dates all the way back to sixth grade.

At the suggestion of her Palos Verdes public school teacher, Lynne entered Chadwick and flourished in her new school environment. She credits her sixth-grade teacher, John Hansen, with her positive experience, calling him "a fabulous teacher who was inspirational and great at making kids feel very good about themselves."

Two other influential teachers that made a lasting impression upon Lynne were Karen Stephens and Nancy Holland. From them Lynne learned the joy of literature and its connection to our past and present. Writing was emphasized; to this day, Lynne states that she can hear Karen Stephens voice in her head saying, "'Is' says nothing. It is not an active verb. Get rid of it."

Lynne is quick to point out that she was far from the best student in her class, but she took advantage of Chadwick's many leadership opportunities, involving herself in school productions and student government and serving as senior class president. She credits Chadwick for "transforming my life…The teachers had a knack for bringing out the best in every student, which meant that I gained the confidence to be myself, speak my mind, express my opinions and simply thrive."

Lynne also credits Chadwick School with helping her achieve her goal of attending Occidental College. Initially, when then Headmaster Don Leavenworth suggested that Occidental may not be a realistic choice for her, a determined Lynne asked "what do I have to do to get in?" Leavenworth proceeded to outline a plan, which she executed to a tee. Needless to say, she did go on to attend Occidental and largely credits Mr. Leavenworth for understanding "what made me tick. He tailored our conversations to what he knew would inspire me to work very hard." When it came time for her own children, Maddie '10 and Harrison '11, to go to school, Lynne knew that there was only one place she wanted them to attend, even though the family was living in Huntington Beach.

Although it meant a lengthy commute to Palos Verdes and then to work, Lynne considered it a small price to pay to enable her children to attend Chadwick until the family relocated closer to the school.

In the business world, Lynne has been exceedingly successful in the financial services field. These days, she runs her own company, Innovative Solutions Insurance Services, with 24 employees, but still makes time to serve as a Chadwick trustee and support the school as an active alumna.

"The school has been so important to my life, and I want to do something that will provide someone else with the experience that I had at Chadwick. I truly believe in Chadwick's mission, values and programs, which are so impactful."

When asked why she included Chadwick in her estate plans, Lynne responds with another question:

"How could I not…?"
